**Please keep in mind that the RITR is not always a "leisurely ride in the park". We will be traveling on some stretches of highway that, depending on weather, traffic, animals, and road conditions may challenge even the most experienced of riders. This is not a statement to discourage anyone from coming along, but rather a "heads up" for those who are unaware, and do not know what to expect. Also, as with all CMC rides we strongly encourage all riders to Ride within your Limits. You, and only you are in control of your machine, so YOU set YOUR pace, not the bike/vehicle in front of you or the bike/vehicle behind. Keep in mind that everyone who is on the trip will be enjoying it and the roads we travel in their own way.**

Ride Itinerary (*subject to changes*)
DAY ONE, WEDNESDAY, JULY 14th, 2010Day 1 Map - ... B+MH4wfg==
We will meet at the Tim Horton's along Highway 16X in Spruce Grove between 0900 & 0930 on July 14th with FULL TANKS and EMPTY BLADDERS
Between the hours of 0930 - 1000, we will hold a Pre-Ride meeting where we will be introducing the possible Road Captain(s) and Tail Gunner(s) for the trip.Please, if you are joining us for the ride, DO NOT be late for the Pre Ride meeting as it will be as important to you and the rest of us as the fuel in our tanks.
NOTE: In line with the Pre Ride meetings that will be held before we head out each morning, at the end of each ride day we will be making every attempt to also hold a Post Ride meeting. These meetings may involve just the Road Captain(s) & Tail Gunner(s) OR they may involve the whole group, so please be prepared to put aside 10 - 15 minutes at the end of the daily ride for this
Our "Day One" destination is Golden, BC. Golden is 645 kms from Spruce Grove. We will travel west to Jasper, then south on Highway 93 past the Columbia Icefields before reaching Golden roughly around 6 or 7 that evening.
Please keep in mind that our fuel stops will be accommodating the bike(s) with the smallest tank, not the largest, so fuel up when you can, and/or as necessary. Excluding lunch stops & depending on how large of a group we have fueling, I would expect each stop to be no longer then 20 minutes.
Day One Fuel/Meal stops will take place in the following places... Edson (173 kms from Spruce Grove) *Jasper (163 kms from Edson) *We will be having lunch in Jasper. Saskatchewan River Crossing (155 kms from Jasper), and Lake Louise (81 kms from SRC & 84 kms to Golden).
Morning Meet Locations- NOTE: There is a chance (depending on numbers) that we will not all be staying at the same hotel/motel. A morning meeting point will be determined at the Post Ride meeting and if need be, the morning meet location & time will be passed on to all riders soon thereafter. ** Please arrive at these meeting points fueled up and ready to go, unless instructed otherwise the night before

DAY TWO & THREE, THURSDAY & FRIDAY, JULY 15th & 16th, 2010Day 2 Map - ... B+MH4wfg==
Due to the many incredible roads in this region of BC, we will be spending 2 days in the Nelson area. I have posted three route maps for day 3. All routes are excellent for Motorcycle travel. The choice is yours. Travel one of the routes below, or plan one of your own. Either way, the perfect day will have us all meeting back up in Castlegar for a group run south to Trail for some spaghetti & meatballs.
The 3 routes listed below vary in distance and time to complete. Keep in mind that the distance and time listed on the route maps is travel time only and does not include fuel, meal, or photo op stops. We have chosen to stay in Castlegar on the nights of the 15th & 16th because rooms are usually more readily available there, as well as less expensive then the rooms offered in Nelson.
ROUTE ONE (501 kms - 7 hrs, 22 min.) This route will take you south down into the States of Washington & Idaho, then back up, and around thru Nelson before coming back down and over to Castlegar. Day 3, Route Option 1 - The International Selkirk Loop with the Rivers, Dams, and Mines Super Side TripFor more information on the Intl. Selkirk Loop check out the following link This is the one that I will be riding. ...
For the riders without passports, who do not want to travel down into the States, or would like a shorter route on day 3 of the 5 day trip, here are a couple alternatives to the International Selkirk Loop. The Selkirk Mini Loop, is a great ride that winds it's way along cliff faces, lakes, and rivers, AND also offers a few choices for ice cream/food/beverage stops along the way.
ROUTE TWO (259 kms - 3 hrs, 40 min.) will have you doing a loop north of Nelson, past the Slocan lookout point, through New Denver, across to Kaslo, back south along Kootenay Lake, through Nelson, and then down back into Castlegar.
ROUTE THREE (317 kms - 5 hrs) will take you east to Creston, north to the Crawford Bay ferry crossing, across Kootenay Lake, and back round through Nelson to Castlegar. Day 3, Route Option 3 ... 0wfjB+MH4=

So, there you have it. Of course everything but the overnight locations is subject to revision, but I do not see things changing much.
If you are pretty sure that you will be making this ride, I would suggest you book your accommodations sooner, rather then later as the areas/towns we are going to be visiting fill up fast, and you can always cancel a room or transfer it to another rider later on if need be.
